College Biology students don wellies and waterproofs in ecology field trip

Ninety-nine Upper Sixth A Level Biology students attended a three-day ecology field trip at Juniper Hall Field Centre for the Practical Endorsement element of the course and written examinations.
During the trip, the students learnt ecology sampling techniques and had the opportunity to gain experience in using transects, random sampling, quadrats, and measuring abiotic factors in various habitats.
The local ecology habitats visited included Saltmarsh (Pagham Harbour), Woodland (Boxhill), Grassland (Burford Spur) and Freshwater (River Tillingbourne, Abinger Common).
Head of Biology Alys Dreux said of the trip, “This was a great opportunity for our Biologists to take their learning outside the classroom and gain some essential hands-on practical experience.”
